A pair of highly detailed maps of western Africa from the Society for the Diffusion of Useful Knowledge atlas. Plate I extends from the Senegal River to the Volta River, in what is now Ghana, and inland as far as Timbuktu, in what is now Mail. Plate II extends from the coasts of modern-day Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, and Cameroon inland to Lake Chad. Both maps are rich in place names; plate II includes several geographical notes.
