The expanse of European and Asian Russia in two highly detailed maps by Bellin from the atlas of Prevost d'Exiles' Histoire Generale des Voyages. The first map extends from St. Petersburg and Moscow and the Caspian and Aral Seas to the Lena River watershed. The routes of Johann Georg Gmelin from St. Petersburg to Yeniseysk (1731-36) and of Joseph-Nicolas Delisle from Moscow to Berezovo are traced out in red. The second map encompasses eastern Siberia, the Kamtschatka Peninsula, and Sakhalin Island. Russia's Arctic coastline is delineated in great detail along with the route of a 1648 Russian expedition to Kamchatka.
