Bellin's two highly detailed maps of the course of the Gambia River in West Africa, from the atlas of Prevost d'Exiles' influential collection of travel narratives, Histoire Generale des Voyages. The first map traces the river's course from its mouth to Eropina; the second, from Eropina to Barrakonda. Both maps include river soundings, notes on roads, towns and agricultural production in the region, and very decorative rococo cartouches.
