Francois Nicolas Martinet's magnificently engraved and splendidly colored illustration of the Troupiales of Cayenne and of Hispaniola (St. Domingue), the latter called "the whistler," from the Comte de Buffon's Histoire Naturelle des Oiseaux, one of the most important and comprehensive late 18th-century French ornithological works.
