Plate VI from Part II of de Bry's Grands Voyages chronicling the French colonial attempts in Florida in the 1560s. The plates are based on Le Moyne's famous drawings of the French expeditions and the customs of Florida natives. In Plate VI, the French erect a column with the arms of the French king on a small island (marked "F" on the plate) formed by a stream they name Libourne. They see two gigantic stags and proceed to explore another island they name Cedar Island.
