Homann's splendid map of Sicily, Sardinia, the southern tip of Italy and the Maltese islands, with many place names and decorative details. The large, sumptuous title cartouche shows Bacchus, Ceres, Vulcan at the forge, and putti holding up the coats of arms of Sicily and Sardinia. Warships engage in combat at sea and in the bottom corners are inset plans of Catania and Valletta, the latter encased in a cartouche featuring a Knight of Malta and the Maltese coat of arms.
