Two charmingly designed views of Chinese riverside cities on a single plate from Prevost d'Exiles' influential collection of travel narratives, Histoire Generale des Voyages. The view on the left is of Hukou (Hu Kcu Hyen), now a district of the Yangtze River port of Jiujiang in Jiangxi Province. The view on the right is of Tongzhou (Tong Cheu), today a district of Beijing, historically important for its role as the land and water approach to the capital. Item Number: RS2921
