A wonderfully detailed plan of Tranquebar, today Tharangambadi, on the Coromandel coast of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu, from Prevost d'Exiles' influential collection of travel narratives, Histoire Generale des Voyages. Dating back to 1620, the town was the first Danish trading post in the subcontinent. The key on the upper left corner of the map identifies "Pagodas great and small," "Christian churches," "Rest Homes," as well as physical and botanical features. Item Number: RS2910
