Engraved by Ch. Weigel, Coccejo' fascinating bird's-eye view of ancient Jerusalem is based on the "writings of Josephus," the 1st-century Romano-Jewish historian, and depicts the cities of Melchizedek and David, the hills of Betheza and Golgotha, and in the environs, the Mount of Olives, Herod's tomb, and the sites of the encampments of the Assyrians and of Pompeii. Letter and number keys beneath identify major sites and monuments.
