A fascinating view of the ancient, rock-carved Roman amphitheater at Wadi Sabra, a dry riverbed 8 miles south of the ruins of Petra in Jordan, from Laborde's Voyage de l'Arabie Pétrée. Laborde was the first to survey the site of the Wadi Sabra theater, which, because of its shape, was deemed to be a naumachy, a place where mock naval battles were staged in antiquity.
