Bellin's important map of the Great Lakes from the atlas of Prevost d'Exiles' Histoire Generale des Voyages is the most accurate representation of the lakes of its time, despite the presence of some fictional islands in Lake Superior. This beautifully engraved and designed map, with its large and elaborate cartouche, extends from Lake Champlain in the east to the St. Louis River in what is now northeastern Minnesota.
