In the upper part of this fascinating sheet from Volume Six of Chatelain's Atlas Historique, maps of central Mexico and of the "Lake of Mexico" flank a view of the "Great Temple of Mexico." Below, surrounded by descriptive text, are three scenes of pre- and post-conquest Mexico, all derived from de Bry: a native dance, the idol "Viztzili puztli," and a bird's-eye view of Mexico City.
