In 1725 it fell into the hands of the Dutch West India Company and was renamed Fort Hollandia (left). View of Fort Amsterdam, the former slave fort in Abandze, Central region, Ghana, built by the English between 1638 and 1645 as Fort Cormantin and captured by the Dutch West India Company in 1665 (right).
