Three superb, highly detailed and delicately colored Holy Land maps on a single sheet from the Atlas Universel published by Paulin & Le Chevalier. The largest of the maps, on the left side of the sheet, is of Palestine "au temps de Jesus-Christ." It shows the Roman political divisions at the time of Christ and the routes he followed during his mission. At the lower right corner of this map is an inset plan of Jerusalem. Flanking the main map are two smaller ones: "A map of the route followed by the Hebrews from their departure from Egypt to their arrival in the land of Canaan" and "A map of the Tribes of Israel."
