This superbly decorative and evocative map of the Promised Land divided among the 12 tribes of Israel includes two extraordinary cartouches. In the upper left corner, the oversize title cartouche depicts Moses receiving the Ten Commandments, with other Exodus scenes in the background: the adoration of the Golden Calf, Moses striking water from a rock, and the fall of manna in the desert. Hovering over the entire scene is an angel holding a Cross, prefiguring the New Testament. In the bottom right corner cartouche, Moses and Aaron point to a small inset map of the wanderings of the Israelites in the desert, while above the map, Hebrew advance guards return from the Promised Land bearing grapes.
