Two beautifully rendered late 19th-century views of the town and harbor of St. Thomas, then part of the Danish West Indies, now one of the U.S. Virgin Islands. The upper image, from a French illustrated periodical, shows the island "ravaged by the hurricane of August 21, 1871." Below it is a panoramic view of the town and harbor of St. Thomas, with ships unloading in the foreground, from a Leslie's Popular Monthly article entitled "A Midwinter Cruise Among the Antilles."
