A fascinating collection of 12 Holy Land maps by A.R. Fremin, "a pupil of Poirson," and 25 biblical views, plans, and other illustrations, all engraved by Barriere Freres. The beautifully detailed maps include the Kingdom of the Hebrews under Solomon, the Land of Canaan according to the vision of Ezekiel, tribal maps, a map of the "terrestrial paradise," the journey of the Israelites, and a map of Syria. The plates include plans of Jerusalem and of Solomon's temple and palace and illustrations of Noah's ark, the Tower of Babel, the camp of the Israelites in the desert, Moses's tabernacle, temple instruments, sacrificial altars, and "musical instruments of the ancients."
