A beautiful exemplar of volume VIII of Prevost d'Exile's influential Histoire Generale des Voyages, consisting of accounts of Dutch voyages to the East Indies, supplemented by 26 maps, plans and views, many of them folding, by Bellin. The latter include detailed maps (in beautiful condition) of Java, Bali, Ceylon, the Maldives, and the Moluccas; plans of Malaca, Batavia, Fort Dauphin, Goa (a spectacular folding plan); and views and scenes of the East Indies, such as Execution by Elephant, Plants and Fruits of Madagascar, and natives of Java.
