L'Amerique Septentrionale et Meridionale Divisee selon les differentes Possessions.

A rare and magnificent map of the Americas, with bold topographical details and many place names and Indian tribal designations. In North America, an oversize Louisiana dominates the continent, minimizing the English possessions. The northwestern part of the continent, north of California, is unknown and blank. In South America, the River Paraguay rivals the Amazon in size and importance. On either side of the map are text descriptions of the various provinces and territories of the Americas. An inset at the bottom of the map lists the possessions of the main European colonial powers and the religions practiced in the New World (including Sun worship and Devil worship!). A crested title cartouche surrounded by tropical fauna and flora enhances the map's great appeal.
