Het Beloofde Landt Canaan.

This item has been sold. Please check our homepage for currently available maps.
A superb, and much copied map of the "Beloved Land of Canaan," divided by tribe and teeming with place names. In addition to St. Paul's sea route to Rome, the map features a delightfully decorative mileage scale, a key to royal and priestly cities, towns and castles, and a magnificent title cartouche at the bottom of the page. The title is surrounded by the figures of Faith, Hope, and Charity and is flanked on either side by scenes from the life of Christ. At either end are two fishermen, symbolizing the map's author.
